I would like to know what are the Polish Armed Forces in the West doing? If I recall correctly there was some air action involving Polish squadrons, but not much happened on the ground, especially in Italy where there would be a three divisional corps (2 infantry divisions of 3 brigades, one armored and corps assets) available in late '45 (in France a similar force would be available, but with less experienced infantry). I understand the Commie Polish force is left at home because the Soviets do not trust them, but I'm sure the Allies would use a 200k force happily. I guess the morale of the Corps would again rise, knowing there is again a chance to free Poland from the Commie rule.

I believe that the Free Polish Army fought a battle against the Sovs. in Breakthrough which was basically a tie.

You are right, my memory failed me. I did a search now through the books and it reveales that there was indeed an action involving 1st Polish Armoured. However, there was only a short mention of II Polish corps "holding Rimini", and they weren't used in latest book to plug the holes in the Austria/Italy campaign. Besides, 4th Polish Infantry Division would be available to be used in Germany.

Indeed, 1st Polish Armoured fought in the north fo Germany early in the conflict, and were spoken of in McCreery's counter-attack planning. I simply cannot mention all the units all of the time of course. 3rd and 5th Infantry may well have a part to play in Italy, or even elsewhere. 1st Polish Armoured and Polish Para most certainly have a pivotal role in something that is to come. It may well be that sufficient additional Polish personnel come to hand to make up other units. Who knows :-)
