Member Posts: 1 | First of all Colin. I love your books. Have no other choice - you kill all my favourite characters almost immediately so I have to come back to find some new one! More seriously though. I'm a Pole and naturally look forward to see bigger Polish presence in your story. You're doing such a splendid job that I won't presume to tell you how to write your books but here's a few facts I hope will give you some new ideas : - after a battle of Monte Cassino the ranks of the 2nd Corps were replenished (and enlarged!!) by more than 20 thousands of prisoners from Wermacht . After 1939 Germany incorporated into it's borders big chunks of Polish territory and as the war progressed called into its army the ever increasing numbers of men from those areas including many Poles who were classified as Germans because their family roots were considered to be now in part of the III Reich. - Of the two infantry divisions in the 2nd the 3rd Carpathian were welcoming those soldiers more warmly with emphasis on training. I guess you could say they would put like this: "you (the other div.) can have reliable (all soldiers were screened before incorporation into ranks) we need the competent. Thus a Panther or Tiger gunner might have found himself in a Polish Sherman or Cromwell fighting T-34's. - If you add to this the German army in Italy I think it reasonably possible to find a Polish soldiers, former Wermacht members fighting alongside his German platoon or company soldiers and officers. Helping. Replacing casualties in tanks? - Sorry for so long post but just one last thing. Most of the 2nd Corps soldiers found themselves in the army after surviving Soviet gulags and deportations. No way in hell they would have stayed out of this fight. Thanks for your work!!!! Just don't delay the next one!!!:-)

Indeed. It was the 3rd Carpathian and 5th Kresowa that were the infantry components in Pol II Cps, and they have a job to do in the fullness of time. One issue I have with writing a wide-ranging thing like RG, is that I can't get everything in at once. You will note that I introduced 1st Pol Armd in book#2, and that there has been a Polish presence, or undercurrent, for a little while now. Whilst I cannot reveal the plot, I have no doubt that you will not be disappointed with book#5.
