Colin,

Can we look forwrd to the Meteor coming up against the ME262 in book 5? Will |You be bringing large numbers of Vampires, Meteor & P80's into play in mid 46 as well as, there was oustanding piston airframes in service or ready for production like the British Sea Fury & P51 M Mustang.

On another matter I keep coming back to the Polish Question. The open Baltic flank is ripe for a left hook on to a friendly beach. Bradley commented to Ike on his sense of history on his first view of spectrum. This brings to mind the Westerplatte in Gdansk for the landing. This would outflank the Baltic Front. Will you be including any mention of commando operations in the Baltic given British experience in this field? I've been wondering about operation pantomime & the scope for the Royal Navy to do what it does best in the Hood tradition & create mayhem, will you let them of the leash? A curious thought, will you have German naval personnel ferry the Polish I corps & II corps into an assault on their home soil, now that would be an interesting chapter.

Denis... what can I say... very little as it happens... meteor v schwalbe is a possibility although on small numbers. Poland? Baltic? Pantomime? Shall we revisit this when book five comes out?

Yeah, because if I'm not mistaken. the Soviets probably captured just a limited number of the 262s.

They have some Schwalbe, as the Djorov chapter indicates, but not that many. Perhaps enough for a part regiment.

If I were the Soviet commander, I would not waste the Schwalbes against fighters, but rather save them for the Allied bombers, especially the B-29s. I'd send the other fighters out in front to keep the Allied fighters busy, then send in the Schwalbes.

I rather suspect that a handful of Schwalbe versus a fleet of b29s would be brief and exciting for the Soviet pilots, especially as the Allies have decent long range fighters that, according to historical evidence, could match and outperform the jet fighter when properly handled.

Will the Soviets manage to at least sufficiently perfect the MiG 9?
