Indeed. Yes the m3 was the greaser, and yes the same designation could be reused. I used A1 for the production model which had some... err... refinements :-)

Good. I was just concerned about possible confusion, that's all.

My gut feeling is it wont replace... dont see how it can... but we might see a steady replacement program with new units receiving the new weapon, and special forces etc. The main issues will be training and logistics.

Would the 101st receive them?  Along with the selective fire Garand versions?

I have no such plans, because of the additional weight of ammo. Mind you, I talk solely of issue to any airborne unit, as the 101st may not be around for much longer.

You mean they're going to get destroyed? Or transformed into another unit?

hmmm now... do you expect me to answer that, Keith? Last you saw of the Eagles, they were in Poland up against it. WHo knows what has come to pass since. You will find out in the next book :-)

Still, we know that apparently Crisp survives, because in Opening Moves, it's implied that he eventually became a General and if my memory serves, even wrote memoirs of his experiences. If so, i hope that Galkin makes it as well.

JOOC, what kind of 'refinements'? A heavier bolt to reduce rate of fire? Then again, I caught a glimpse of the glossary, and it looks as if the US felt that the current .30 Brownings were quite sufficient for their needs and didn't feel a need to adopt a new machine gun. That's okay.
