in real life the navy built only 2 of this class of ship. they were meant to replace lost Independance class CVLs. But with the Jet age they were to small. The jet age is coming quicker so what would they be good for? they were changed into command ships. I was thinking taking a page from japan when they put helos and autogyro's as sub hunters in shallow water. these little ships could hold around 24 of these craft. just an idea what do you all think?

From an Rg point of view, there is little need for any additional naval capacity methinks. There would be enough flat tops off the coast of Siberia already. If there was a good enough chopper that could port a decent payload around at the time, then the idea would be interesting for sure. I will have a look at helicopter development and see if it can be fitted in. :-) keep having these good thoughts lol

you might want to check out the Kayaba ka1 and Ka2's also if the FA 223. the US R-5 was in production in 1944. the R-5 if i remember my numbers right could lift about 200 pounds. dropping four to six 65 pound hedgehog bombs. the raido would be more important i think. thank you for your replay

Hi. I used FA233s aleready within RG if you recall. The Sikorskys were very limited at that time and more for SAR work of course. I hadnt considered the Kayaba tbh.
