I just read the scene late in Book 2 where the sentries stop a General who did not want to show his papers. My father was intended for the Japan invasion of World War II. He ended up an MP in Japan. One night a General came in a vehicle with a beautiful woman along side. My father was at the gate, and could not let him in without papers, which the General did not have. The furious general had to turn around. I asked "Don't Generals outrank sergeants (which my father was)?" He replied "In the Army, orders outrank Generals." | |
