bought "opening moves" today and have been DEVOURING it so far, but i have a MAJOR problem. going to copy/paste what i put on the amazon discussion page.
every few kindle-pages the top line or two is just missing. i'm not sure if it's my download or if it's the book, but it's really killing the flow for me. has anyone else noticed this?
here's the most recent example
"maskirova was of prime importance up to the moment that the tanks started roll *end of page* could turn the plan from a triumph into a disaster."
i'm obviously not getting the entire sentence/paragraph. this isn't enough for me to leave a bad review or to stop reading this book/series, but it's been amazing. exactly what i want from an alternate history book. but i'm just wondering if it's a bad download or...what. any help would be appreciated.

wanna throw in one more example, from earlier in the book. "We also have other agent assets, code names Mlad and Kalibr, both at the Amerikanisti facilities and we hope for more *end of page* unable to get messages through to them and have received nothing for some months."

That looks like a bad download to me. There have been absolutely nil complaints on that score prior to this. That paragraph reads '“We also have other agent assets, code names Mlad and Kalibr, both at the Amerikanisti facilities and we hope for more information from them but we have again been unable to get messages through to them and have received nothing for some months. In any case, they have been of limited value to date.” Perhaps download it again [at no cost]. Join the Fb red gambit group and ask the members there if they have had similar issues. Oh, and welcome to thegroup :-)

Hmmm I dont have a kindle [my wife does though]. Just wondering if there is some pagination set up with the machine? As I said, this has never raised its head before, so i can only assume it is specific to your download or your kindle. Do keep us informed of progress, in case it occurs again. Thanks

thanks for the quick reply! kinda shocked to get a quick AND good reply from THE AUTHOR of a book. didn't really see that coming. >_> anyway! i'm starting to think now that it's actually my kindle and not the book. i redownloaded last night and had the same problem. also about half the time if i mess with the font size or style, it'll give me most (if not all) of the lines im missing. it hasn't worked every time, but like i said. book is AMAZING so it's not a huge deal to me. but yeah! thanks again for the quick reply AND for writing the book. good stuff.

No problem. Thanks for the compliments too. Keep me informed as to your progress, and do consider joining the FB group. Chances are you will get quicker responses as we do most of our business there. plus, I am regularly wound up by our australian members , who find such things funny ;-)

This is a post from one of the Rg group members. Hope it helps :-) I have had this problem with other ebooks. The problem seemed to be alleviated by using the smallest font size to read the book. On larger fonts the last couple of lines did get lost on occasions. I doubt this is a problem specific to your book but rather a bug affecting some titles possibly associated with formatting.

yeah! in my attempts to mess with settings i noticed smaller font seems to generally fix the problem. so, is "opening moves" your first book? this book is...is...seriously everything i ever wanted from a war book, from an alternate history book, from books in general! right now i'm on the assualt on the chateau and i just can't read this fast enough. blown away by how much i'm enjoying this. i was a little wary of spending $5 on an ebook at first, but given the length of it and the subject i decided to just go for it. best decision ever! i just can't say enough how much i'm loving this. >_>

Thank you for the compliments. Yes, this is my first book, Always wanted to write but never had the time to dedicate to it. In my advancing years, i suddenly find time available, combined with high motivation. I write for me [or at least I did at first], but when it became apparent that others enjoyed the work too, well, it was a spur to write more and more. It started as one book, grew to three, and expanded further to six. I think that will be enough in the series, although I may do Pacific centred support works if the demand is there. i wouldn't do it through choice I think. It is a vehicle for my chosen period of history, as I have always been fascinated with WW2. Writing gives me a chance to air my modest knowledge, and display my research skills :-) Anyway, I'm glad you enjoy, and I hope you will continue to do so....right up to the moment Speilberg decides to commit it to the big screen lol
