Stay calm when dealing with idiot 1* reviews that speak about me not liking Americans.

Remember, Amazon created the feedback system to give everyone a voice, so anyone with the wit to use a keyboard, and that has an opinion, no matter how unfounded, can rubbish years of work without so much as a thought or a care.

Id tend to ignore the reviews of low stars, either they are just Trolling, which does happen, or do not get the book, ive seen a one star review for Les Mis, as they said all it was, was singing!!!!

Well remember Colin, some people in Liverpool wanted their money back, as they said the film they were watching was broken, as they couldnt hear the people talking, it was the Silent Movie film which did so well at the oscars.

Colin, I am new here so I trust a reply to an old message is appropriate?

As an American, I certainly don't think you don't like Americans? Nor do you give anything but an even handed review of the situation as historians and veterans have told it. Not all American units performed well and at the time you describe there were a number of new American units in Europe whose performance was mixed. There were also some outstanding American units and that is also represented.

As to reviews, well anyone with a PC or an axe to grind can create a review. I have written three books (non-fiction) and sales and the input of knowledgeable readers is what counts.

Anything is appropriate so long as it doesnt cost me money or poke fun at my shoe size :-) Do feel free to tell us about your own books here.

I would have been mortified had anyone agreed with the point of view to be honest. I like to think that I can appreciate strengths and weaknesses in all sides and, in the fullness of time, I intend to address them all.

I can only agree that some of the units in Europe were of a lesser standard, if nothing else, by dint of lack of experience. That applies across the nations of course.

I am certainly aware that some German soldiers respected the weaponry and materiel more than the man behind it. The same Germans informed me that the British Army in attack was less than impressive. They also always conceded that it was generally the case that all sides had their warriors and brave men, their cowards and the inept.

One of my reasons for writing RG from all sides was to try and bring the reader into sympathising with people and predicaments, rather than identifying with national groups. From what I am told, I have managed that, for which I am pleased.

As for sales, I am just riding over the 9000 mark, which the tax man finds very rewarding lol
